• As of September 1, 2011 all Alabama business owners are required to check the legal status of all new employees.
• As of April 1, 2012 all Alabama business owners are required to use the computer program E-Verify to determine a prospective employee’s immigration status through the Social Security Administration and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

 Non-compliance will lead to fines, lawsuits and loss of government funding.

 All employers will be required to participate in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s electronic employment authorization (E-Verify) program. Beginning January 1, 2012 any company that receives state funds must implement E-Verify. Effective April 1, 2012, all other Alabama employers must use E-Verify. There are absolutely no exceptions. Violators will be subject to permanent revocation of licenses/permits for all Alabama locations.

Patrick Johnson, Director of Technical Services for Lyons HR, coordinated the effort to supply needed books to Mrs. Draine’s 2^nd grade class in Huntsville, AL. “I wanted to choose a local class. I read various projects and really liked this one,” said Johnson.  As part of a Title One school, most of Mrs. Draine’s students come from low income families.  She teaches her students that income does not determine outcome and that learning and loving to read can make a big difference in life.

 “My students love, love, love Hank the Cowdog and the smell of new books is intoxicating! When students find a character or topic that they love reading about, it is my duty to find as many books and resources as possible to encourage their reading”, said Mrs. Draine. “Your donations are helping me do just that.”
